Reports of diarrhoea and stomach cramps at Paradisus Rio de Oro Resort Cuba

We are reading reports on TripAdvisor suggesting that holiday makers staying at the Paradisus Rio de Oro Resort and Spa in Guardalavaca, Cuba, during the month of January 2012 have suffered a holiday illness consisting of severe cases of diarrhoea and stomach cramps.
This hotel is promoted by Thomas Cook and First Choice Holidays amongst others. The Paradisus Rio de Oro Resort and Spa is an all inclusive 5 star and enjoys a beachfront location. The hotel consists of one main buffet restaurant and 4 a la carte restaurants.
It is not yet clear as to the cause of the illnesses as the problem is affecting a number of hotels in the area generally. The Cuban authorities are investigating.
