Reports have been made about a possible outbreak of Salmonella at the Hotetur Palma Real Hotel in Cuba. Holidaymakers at the 4-star hotel in Varadero, which is all-inclusive, are reported to have contracted Salmonella during their stay at the Hotetur Palma Real in Cuba, and medical samples have been taken.
Guests experienced serious symptoms, including: diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach cramps and high temperatures, and further investigations are now taking place to confirm the source of the illness. Poor standards of hygiene have also been reported, and Salmonella could have been contracted through food or water, that has been contaminated by faeces, or by flies landing on food.
