"Hotels in the Dominican Republic should never expose holidaymakers to food related illness"
Salmonella food poisoning confirmed at Hotel Riu Bachata Dominican Republic in March 2011
Farnworth Rose Solicitors have recently been instructed by a family of 8 who stayed at the Riu Bachata Hotel in the Dominican Republic in March 2011. One member of the family suffered illness during the holiday and a UK doctor confirmed a Salmonella infection when they returned home.
The Riu Bachata Hotel in the Dominican Republic has previously seen outbreaks of food poisoning, including Salmonella, which appears to be an ongoing problem in 2011. We are told that other holidaymakers were complaining of upset stomachs and illness.
Victims of Salmonella can suffer symptoms of severe diarrhoea, stomach cramps, headaches, fever and nausea. If you have recently stayed at the Hotel Riu Bachata in the Dominican Republic and suffered any of these symptoms, you may have contracted Salmonella or another type of bacterial infection. It is vital that you seek medical treatment on your return to the UK to ensure that you are clear of any infection and safe to return to work. Your GP is likely to ask you to provide a stool sample to check this out for you. Even if your sample result is clear of bacteria, this does not mean that you cannot make a claim.
If you have stayed at the Riu Bachata Hotel in the Dominican Republic and you have suffered illness as a result of eating contaminated food, you should contact Farnworth Rose Solicitors as soon as possible. We work on a no win no fee basis and you receive 100% of the compensation. Anne Thomson, our holiday claims expert and Head of Travel Law, will be happy to discuss your illness claim with you.
