"Some illnesses at hotels in Egypt can be contracted from swimming in dirty pool water"
Confirmed Salmonella and suspected Shigella at Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay Resort
Farnworth Rose Solicitors have recently been instructed by a family of five who suffered illness at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay Hotel in Egypt in February 2011. On return to the UK, their young son was confirmed as having contracted Salmonella food poisoning. There is also a report on Trip Advisor that indicates there may be a case of confirmed Shigella infection.
In September 2010 we reported cases of gastric illness and suspected food poisoning and it is of concern to see that these problems appear to be continuing in 2011.
In addition to the reported illnesses, we have also been informed that there were serious staffing issues at the Sunrise Makadi Bay Hotel. We are told that there were insufficient staff members to cope with the numbers of holidaymakers at the hotel, service in the buffet restaurant was very slow and the food was served lukewarm at best and often cold.
