Suspected Shigella at Jaz Mirabel Beach, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
We are reading reports on the internet consumer review website TripAdvisor which are suggesting that holiday makers staying at the Jaz Mirabel Beach in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, during the month of June have complained of holiday illnesses.
British Tour Operators such as Thomson send holidaymakers to this resort. The Jaz Mirabel Beach is a 5 star all inclusive resort, located on its own sandy beach and 11 kilometres from the airport. The resort consists of a main buffet restaurant as well as 3 A La Carte restaurants.
Holidaymakers have complained of suffering with severe diarrhoea. We understand that one guest was hospitalised for two days and needed an intravenous drip due to their illness. This guest was apparently diagnosed with a Shigella infection.
Travellers returning from the Jaz Mirabel Beach who have experienced severe diarrhoea should seek treatment from their GP on return to the UK
