"Children can quickly become ill if they are exposed to poor standards of hygiene in Tunisia"
Soviva Hotel Tunisia and The Secret Tourist

The third BBC programme in the series, The Secret Tourist, highlighted major health and safety issues at the Soviva Hotel in Tunisia.A family was sent undercover by the BBC to secretly film parts of the hotel, and to expose anything which could be construed as dangerous to holidaymakers. On arriving in their room the family found dirty bed sheets which were stained and covered in hair, a dirty bathroom and a filthy fridge. After taking swabs of the dirt in their room, the family discovered to their horror that the toilet was cleaner than the bedside tables.
Two other Secret Tourist programmes showed major issues with health and safety at hotels in Turkey, the Canary Islands and the Dominican Republic, which could result in trips, slips and falls and also food poisoning. The indoor pool at the Soviva Hotel was surrounded by a green growth which later tested highly for bacteria which could result in illness for users of the pool.
The children´s outdoor play area was littered with animal faeces and sharp objects, including broken pottery, which could cause major illness and injury to children. Bacteria in animal faeces can cause blindness.A metal hatch in the hotel grounds opened up to reveal a 20ft deep well, and another uncovered well was full of sewage water.
Food in the hotel was poor and the same water glasses were re-used for different guests without being washed. More worrying was the large number of smoke detectors without covers which rendered them inactive. Fire doors throughout the hotel were also left open.If you have suffered illness or injury at the Soviva Hotel in Tunisia, including Salmonella, Campylobacter or food poisoning, and poor standards of health and hygiene were to blame, Farnworth Rose Holiday Illness Solicitors can help you claim the compensation you deserve.
